Tim + Ashley sneak-peek | engagement

I like funny. And these guys ARE funny. And cute. And the obvious — in love. Tim and Ashley were cuttin’ up the entire time. Ashley gave no quarter to Tim’s wry and sarcastic sense of humor either — she can hold her own. I loved every minute of our session this week and kept them out until dark. (I think I wore them out!) Here’s a quick set to enjoy.

A quick up-and-down from Scotland.

I’m finally sorting through and examining some of the travel photography I’ve produced, but have let sit idle on my computer. It’s not like the old days, when you’d shoot up a bunch of film rolls, drop them off at the photomat and get your results in a few days to pour over actual prints. Now, we just shoot even more and let it accumulate on our hard drive. (note to self: check your back-ups!)

I pulled this image out because I’ve been wanting to play golf lately. When I WANT to play golf, the weather goes south, as it has the last two weeks. In 2008, I got the opportunity to play the No. 2 course at Gullane Golf Club in Scotland, while in Edinburgh for an oil and gas trade show. This was a common view for me most of that day–deep behind a steep-walled bunker.

I have always wanted to play a links-style course and this was more than I could handle. I shot a fair 45 going out and was completely worn out coming in, carding a 55. The wind was immense. It will blow you over. And you’re ready for that pint when you walk off the 18th green. But as exhausting a round as it was, it turned out to be exactly the round of golf I expected. Golf in its homeland.

Alone on the road.

Sometimes it’s nice to get away from it all. I did just that on a trip to San Francisco a few years back. Shelly had business meetings; I had the day off. So I grabbed a rental, headed out of town and drove up through the Marin headlands out to Point Reyes. Beautiful. Quiet. And, it seemed, no one around but me. (Ahhhh!) When’s the last time you were able to break free of all the noise?

Let’s go 2012!

The first thing my 11-year old daughter said me to this morning–as she entered the living room in her jammies–was that this was the year the world was going to end. Not good morning, hi or I’m hungry–2012 is it. My wife and I just looked at each other. (Note to self: too much television for her)

“Time and tide wait for no man” as the saying goes (and that I do believe), so here WE go into 2012. It sure got here fast it seems. I’ve got hopes and wishes for the new year, as many do, and one of them is to put in a little more time and regularity with this blog and my photography, and share more with my friends and family that peek in here from time to time. So, I’m going to work on simplifying things and just do it. (Hold me to it!)

I wish all of you a wonderful 2012.
